Principal Artist Haruo Niyama

Haruo Niyama joins the 30th Anniversary tour of Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet in 2022 as a Principal Artist. Niyama is recognized internationally for achieving an unusually high level of technique.

Mr Niyama studied under Tamae Tsukada and Mihori at Shiratori Ballet Academy in Japan and quickly established a record of incredible artistry. Niyama exploded onto the scene with a 1st place win at Youth America Grand Prix New York, followed up by a 1st Place Gold Medal at the renowned Lausanne International Ballet Competition.

Haruo Niyama has performed globally at the highest level, including the Paris Opera Ballet, Shanghai, Abu Dhabi and Singapore. As a protege of Seiji Ozawa, Niyama further distinguished himself the namesake Festival in Japan. Most recently Haruo Niyama caused a sensation with his performances with the Kyiv National Ballet as part of their cultural exchange mission in Ukraine.
