The Great Russian Nutcracker is a treasure trove of rich characters recognized by their elaborately designed and hand-made costumes conceived of by Moscow Ballet’s own costumer designer Arthur Oliver. Each bead, sequin, ribbon, and layer of tulle is hand-sewn and fitted to the dancers who portray Masha and the Nutcracker Prince, a toy Soldier, the Rat King, Kissy Doll, Harlequin, the Snow Maiden, Father Christmas, and Uncle Drosslemeyer, among others.
A couple may choose to dress as the Dove of Peace duo or a group can create a nesting doll set. Other ideas include characters from the Arabian, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and French Variations.
One Grand Prize winner will receive six tickets to a Great Russian Nutcracker show and a Moscow Ballet gift bag.
Five runners-up will receive four tickets each to the performance.
Entries will be judged in five categories including: Most Creative, Most Moscow Ballet Authentic, Best Group of four or more, Best Ballet Form, Judge’s Choice
