100 performances in November and December sold-out multiple shows across the country, from Washington D. C. to Los Angeles, and Chicago to Ft Myers. The tour also received artistic recognition. Honored Artists of Ukraine Olga Kifyak and Viktor Shcherbakov were invited to speak at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. and multi award-winning principals Karyna Shatkovskaya and Vladimir Tkachenko, were praised by the media including St Paul Pioneer Press, “[Karyna]’s a lithe, smoothly flowing ballerina who dominated every scene she graced.”

Three of Moscow Ballet’s education programs engaged over 9000 children this year! 1) President Obama visited daughter Sasha who performed in the ‘Dance with Us’ program that puts student dancers on stage side-by-side with 40 Russian professionals. Moscow Ballet works with a Host Dance Studio in almost every tour city. A big shout-out to all Host Studios for their time and dedication over the years. Want to see the program in action? 2) 6,000 school kids spent a week of immersion in ‘New Horizons: A Children’s Program for Life’. The interactive program develops children’s confidence, coordination and creativity, and provides a world-class performance experience. Working one-on-one with Moscow Ballet soloists is a unique and super opportunity for kids across the country.
3) ‘Musical Wunderkind’, winners of major symphony orchestra youth concerto competitions, brought “Dying Swan” to life on stage and a snippet of classic ballet to thousands of audience members too. Seven super talented young musicians accompanied a Moscow Ballet principal dancer in this classic ballet adagio prior to Great Russian Nutcracker performances.

Were you one of the 2000+ who attend one of the 23 free “Meet the Masters” events, co-partnered by Moscow Ballet and Capezio? Moscow Ballet dancers, whose feet were personally fitted by Master Fitter Paul Plesh, greeted fans, posed for photos and demonstrated the proper care and use of pointe shoes. “We had a really great turn out…and everyone was really excited to meet Svetlana” reports Baltimore’s Artistic Costumes. Moscow Ballet partner Capezio, which celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2012, continues to revolutionize the dance world with dancewear and footwear innovations for every dancer from beginner to professional.

Also in 2012 Moscow Ballet partnered with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) to raise funds at local children’s hospitals. Ballerinas visited hospitalized children. Svetlana Todinova was invited to a photo shoot with founders Donny and Marie Osmond, and Natalia Miroshnyk graced the first (annual?) Russian Tea Party in Dallas. CMNH touches the lives of 17 million children and their families every year, more families than any other children’s charity
