Have fun with dance while learning basic ballet steps and movements. Work on flexibility, coordination, and strength. Most importantly, learn the beauty of ballet as we take you through the basics. Class includes barre-style exercises and center work, such as pliés, tendus, port de bras and petit allegro, all of which is easy to do from the comfort of your home. Classes are repetitive to build strength and to train the muscles for ease of movement.
1:30 pm - 2:30 pm Intermediate Ballet (2+ years of experience recommended)
Learn the Russian Scarf Dance from Swan Lake! This beautiful dance combines classical ballet and character dance in an elegant and stylish solo. The choreography is a great combination of ballet and character dance. It will be modified for the intermediate dancer and taught off pointe. Character shoes are not necessary.
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm Introduction to Russian Character Dance (2+ years of ballet experience recommended)
Character dance draws upon the movement and music of national dances of European countries and from around the world. In classical ballets such as Swan Lake and Coppelia the character dances are drawn from Italy’s Tarantella, Hungary’s Czardas, Poland’s Mazurka, and Spain’s Flamenco. These dances are very rhythmic and fun to perform.
*times listed in ET. Schedule subject to change. Class for July 4 will be moved to Sunday, July 5.
