Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is coming to Colorado Springs and the company is looking for local ballet students ages 6 to 18 years for children’sDance with Us students in the French Variation roles. Local youth can audition to be Party Children, Small Mice, Snowflakes, Russian Snow Maidens and more roles through Moscow Ballet’s community engagement “Dance with Us” program. Auditions are led by a Moscow Ballet company member/pedagogue in each performance city this fall. The “Dance with Us” program has brought over 100,000 aspiring ballerinas and ballerinos on stage with the professionals over the past 27 years. Auditions are free (although there may be a casting fee and a minimal rehearsal fee), hand-sewn costumes are provided, and dress rehearsal is on stage with the Russian company the day of the performance. The selected cast members will performDance with Us students in the Snow Forest in Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker at The Ent Center for the Arts on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 7 p.m., and Wednesday, Nov. 27, 7 p.m. as well as Pueblo Memorial Hall in Pueblo on Thursday, Dec. 12, 7 p.m.

The Gift of Christmas Tour Comes to Colorado Springs November 26 and 27

Moscow Ballet brings the Gift of Christmas Tour to Colorado Springs with Great Russian Nutcracker performances bringing holiday magic to life and creating unforgettable memories for all ages. The company performs at ENT Center at the University of Colorado on Tues., Nov. 26, 7 p.m. and Wed., Nov. 27, 7 p.m.

Moscow Ballet makes Christmas gift giving easy with the holiday performance that delights all ages…from the life-sized Kissy Doll to the fierce, red-eyed Rat King; and the Russian Troika Sleigh bringing Masha through the Snow Forest to the Land of Peace and Harmony which is populated with 10 foot tall dancing puppets, exotic flying birds and dancing couples from the world’s five great heritages.

About Host Studio: Colorado Springs Turning Pointe School of Dance

Colorado Springs Turning Pointe School of Dance’s mission is to fully develop a dancer’s skills and talents and to encourage students to use their gifts to bless others in the community and beyond. The vision is that each student would learn not only to perform dance/theater, but also to inspire them to appreciate and love dance and creative arts. Turning Pointe Dance is a dance studio owned and operated in Colorado Springs by Tina Cook. With more than 14 years of successful operation, they offer classes for ages 2 through adult in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, modern, worship, and much more. The studio provides excellence in dance and theater instruction while cultivating hearts and nurturing creativity. From bunny hops and streamers with the budding ballerinas to pirouettes with the pointe students, there is something special for everyone.

The Ent Center for the Arts, which opened in January 2018, is a new performing and visual arts complex on the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs campus.
