Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is coming to Edmonton and the company is looking for local ballet students ages 6 to 18 years for children’s roles. Local youth can audition to be Party Children, Small Mice, Snowflakes, Russian Snow Maidens and more roles through Moscow Ballet’s communityDance with Us students in the Snow Forest engagement “Dance with Us” program. Auditions are led by a Moscow Ballet company member/pedagogue in each performance city this fall. The “Dance with Us” program has brought over 100,000 aspiring ballerinas and ballerinos on stage with the professionals over the past 27 years. Auditions are free (although there may be a casting fee and a minimal rehearsal fee), hand-sewn costumes are provided, and dress rehearsal is on stage with the Russian company the day of the performance.

The Gift of Christmas Tour Comes to Edmonton Saturday, November 16

Moscow Ballet brings the Gift of Christmas Tour to Edmonton with Great Russian Nutcracker performances bringing holiday magic to life and creating unforgettable memories for all ages. The company performs at Myer Horowitz Theatre on Sat., Nov. 16, 3 p.m. matinee and 7 p.m.

Moscow Ballet makes Christmas gift giving easy with the holiday performance that delights all ages…from the life-sized Kissy Doll to the fierce, red-eyed Rat King; and the Russian Troika Sleigh bringing Masha through the Snow Forest to the Land of Peace and Harmony which is populated with 10 foot tall dancing puppets, exotic flying birds and dancing couples from the world’s five great heritages.

About Host Studio: Dance Theatre Performing Arts Centre

Dance Theatre Performing Arts Centre is a Performing Arts School that offers children and adult classes in dance, drama, and voice. Although taught separately, all classes are inter-related and culminate in a full musical theatre production at the end of the season. Classes are taught by highly qualified and experienced instructors and performers in the disciplines offered. Class sizes are small (maximum of 10 students) with two staff members present at all times. Dance Theatre strives to offer an inclusive program where students of all ages, levels and abilities are welcome. It is their goal to foster a lifelong love and appreciation of the performing arts in each of our students.

About Horowitz Theatre

Every seat in the house at the Horowitz Theatre provides a close, intimate view of the performers on stage. This 720-seat concert hall features a comfortable setting and an inviting atmosphere where patrons can truly enjoy the fine and performing arts. The Horowitz Theatre is conveniently located in the Students' Union Building on the University of Alberta campus, has two covered parkades, direct access via the Edmonton public transit system, and many restaurants and amenities nearby.
