See Moscow Ballet’s Acclaimed Swan Lake in Victoria November 12 at Royal Theatre Tickets on Sale July 13

By popular demand, Moscow Ballet returns to Victoria with the acclaimed and iconic ballet classic Swan Lake November 12, 7 pm at Conexus Arts Centre for one performance only. For tickets contact the Royal Theatre Box Office 250-386-6121.

Revered as the epitome of classical ballets, Swan Lake is a gripping tale of love, betrayal, and the triumph of good over evil. The dual role of Odette/ Odile in which the ballerina first appears as the tragically ethereal Swan Queen and later as the alluring but deceptive Odile (Black Swan) is one of the most dramatic and technically challenging roles in all of classical ballet. “Uniquely Russian company of remarkable performers,” writes Dance Critic Stephan Bonfield of the Calgary Herald. Moscow Ballet Principal Ballerina Ekaterina Bortiakova won the Vaganova-Prix International Ballet Competition (IBC) in St Petersburg at 16 years old and was awarded the prize for “Artistic Inspiration” at Kazan IBC, and at Perm IBC was awarded best “Arabesque” as well as “Best Partnering” with Akshol Mussakhanov.  Mussakhanov is laureate of the IX IBC in Moscow 2001; Serge Lifar IBC in Kiev, and Kazakhstan Festival of Independence Ballet Competition. Moscow Ballet’s Swan Lake is staged by Ballet Master Vladimir Troschenko, Ballet Master Emeritus for Odessa State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre and an honorary graduate of the world-renowned Vaganova Academy at the school of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg.
