Principal Ballerina Olena Pecheniuk premiered with NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet on the 25th Anniversary Tour of North America as heroine Clara and Odette/Odile in Swan Lake. Olena is a rising star ballerina evidenced by her award of Honored Artist of Culture in 2013. Olena is a Laureate of Several International Ballet Competitions.
Watch her in Carmen Suite, Don Quixote as Dulcinea and as Kitri. Olena has performed many of ballet’s Principal roles including Swan Lake’s Odette and Odile, Small Swans, and Pas de Trois; Giselle as Giselle; Sleeping Beauty as Aurora, Florina and the Fairies; Romeo and Juliet as Juliet; Carmen Suite as Carmen; Le Sylphide as Sylphide; and Queen Olga as Queen Olga. She is a 2003 graduate of Dnepropetrovsk Akademic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Artistic Director Oleg Nikolaev and under Ballet Director Zinaida Zinchenko. From 2003 to 2005, Olena studied at the John Cranko Ballet Academy in Stuttgart under Director Todeush Matach.
